The Key contract for the construction of a CCGT Unit
On 9th of June 2021, Synthos signed a contract with Mostostal Warszawa to supply, install and start up a heat recovery steam generator and erect a gas turbine set. It is another major step in the CCGT (combined cycle gas turbine) project on the premises of our plant in Oświęcim.
Under the contract, Mostostal Warszawa will install the key part of the CCGT unit at the Synthos Dwory location. The scope covers designing, installing and starting up heat recovery steam generator with the necessary supporting infrastructure. In addition, Mostostal Warszawa will design and construct the required buildings and other facilities as part of the project. It will also perform the assembly of a gas turbine supplied by Ansaldo Energia. The estimated capacity of the waste heat boiler will be 140 t/h of steam
“Sustainable development is an important aspect of the growth strategy for the Synthos Group. The CCGT project is one of the key parts of the strategy. It is also part of our efforts to change the fuel mix at the existing heat and power plant and to reduce the percentage of coal in the mix. We expect to make our power generation totally coal free by 2028,” says Zbigniew Warmuz, president of Synthos S.A.
“Mostostal Warszawa is expanding its involvement in projects that will increase the power capacity for Poland’s power industry and manufacturing industries. Our experience of working on construction projects for strategic companies gives us the potential to carry out the project for Synthos efficiently. We understand the industry and the role of power generation in the chemical sector and in keeping the chemical production chain. This makes us a good partner for the sector,” says Jorge Calabuig Ferre, president of the management board of Mostostal Warszawa.
The CCGT project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023.
