We have decades of experience in the development and production of synthetic rubber solutions for a wide array of industries including tyre and technical rubber goods, clearly focused on performance, reliability and sustainability.

Our extensive product portfolio includes solution-styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR), emulsion-styrene butadiene rubber (ESBR) and high and low cis-polybutadiene rubber (NdBR and LiBR). We also offer high performance recycled rubber powder, derived from selected end-of-life tyres.

Focused on tomorrow’s mobility with a reduced environmental footprint

We are a collaborative innovator in synthetic rubber and work closely with global tyre manufacturers to develop solutions that have a reduced environmental impact such as tread materials with lower rolling resistance for improved energy efficiency and better wear for improved life.

Through innovation, collaboration and partnerships we are focusing all our efforts in developing sustainable, resource-efficient synthetic rubber solutions for today’s and tomorrow’s forms of mobility.

BIOMOTION – a step towards a sustainable future for mobility.

Our BIOMOTION project is key to our Sustainable Development Strategy and driven by our support of circular economy initiatives. Our main goal is to develop technologically advanced bio-based materials for tyre manufacturers – the synthetic rubber industry’s largest customers.

We are reducing our reliance on fossil fuel resources by using bio-sourced feedstocks to produce bio-butadiene so we can offer more sustainable SSBR and NdBR synthetic rubber tyre compound grades.

Under this initiative we will increase the amounts of renewable and bio-based raw materials along the value chain, reduce emissions and strive to further enhance viable tyre recycling solutions.

State-of-the-art research and development resources

We have aligned our innovation strategy with our customers’ goal of significantly reducing CO2 emissions. We operate two research and development centres in Schkopau (Germany) and Oświęcim (Poland), where our large team of chemists, technology and processing experts is committed to accelerate the development of advanced materials and solutions for sustainable, environmentally-friendly and highly efficient applications.

As part of our investment in our customers’ success, our state-of-the art SSBR pilot plant, which was inaugurated in 2018, supports close collaboration and enables faster innovation cycles.

And our investment in the future does not stop there: we collaborate with universities around the world working with the industry’s next generation of polymer technologists on new and innovative research projects.

Protecting the world’s natural resources

At Synthos, the development of synthetic rubbers using circular feedstocks is happening now. We are currently focusing our efforts on producing a synthetic rubber from entirely renewable resources, which we aim to achieve through the production of bio-butadiene using bio-ethanol.

We are supporting our customers growing sustainability goals by embarking on the next level of development of advanced synthetic rubber grades based on renewable and bio-based resources that do not compromise on performance.
