Synthos Receives ISCC Plus Certification to Support Production of Sustainable Rubber
Synthos announces that it has received ISCC Plus certification. This reinforces the company’s commitment to providing customers with high-performance material solutions with a lower environmental footprint.
ISCC Plus is part of the EU-approved International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Scheme that enables companies throughout the supply chain to demonstrate the sustainability of their products based on traceability and mass balance requirements.
Certification was issued for two families of materials produced at Synthos Kralupy: Butadiene (BD) and Butadiene Rubber (BR). In addition to certification of its processing and production facilities in Kralupy nad Vltavou, Czech Republic, Synthos Kralupy also received ISCC certification for its global BD trading activities.

ISCC Plus mass balance certification is another important step on the road to greater sustainability in our industry. As a company, we are particularly proud that this certification comes just weeks after the announcement earlier this month that Synthos and Lummus Technology will enter the next phase of developing and commercialising bio-butadiene from bioethanol. In December 2021, Synthos announced its 2030 Sustainability Commitments on Climate Change, Green Raw Materials, Sustainable Product Portfolio, Green Energy and Responsible Partnerships to further reduce negative impacts on natural resources and reduce climate emissions. ISCC Plus certification confirms the realization of the strategy. The extension of the ISCC Plus certification process to other Synthos plants is planned for later this year.
