Synthos at Tire Tech Expo in Hanover
Synthos, a leading global manufacturer of synthetic rubber, has showcased its new low TG SPRINTAN® S-SBR for energy-efficient, longer-lasting tires at Tire Tech Expo, which will be held from 21-23 March 2023 in Hanover, Germany.
Synthos presented a new, innovative low glass transition temperature (TG) S-SBR at Tire Technology Expo 2023 that has been developed for high-performance tire tread applications. Featuring novel functionalization technology, the low TG SSBR provides improved rolling resistance and wear, while balancing the processability of compounds and mechanical characteristics.
This is the first grade in a new range of unique low TG S-SBRs under the SPRINTAN® brand that Synthos plans to introduce to the market to complement its existing functionalized (SPRINTAN® 3402, SPRINTAN® 918S) and non-functionalized (SPRINTAN® 1810) low TG S-SBR grades for carbon black and silica tread compounds.
All of Synthos’ commercial synthetic rubber grades are available as bio/circular-attributed materials under ISCC Plus certification.
Low TG S-SBRs can provide tire developers with greater flexibility in compound design, allowing more freedom to use performance-enhancing additives, lower levels of BR and even full S-SBR compounds. Wet grip can be boosted by adding resins at levels previously unattainable. Electric Vehicles create many challenges for tires and as the transformation of the automotive industry accelerates, Synthos’ advanced low TG polymer technology can play a significant role in helping tire manufacturers reach their performance and sustainability goals.
