Synthos and Ekovoltis achieve a technological breakthrough in the energy market
Polish energy is opening up to new providers of system services. Synthos – in cooperation with Ekovoltis – has completed the qualification process of a gas turbine in a CCGT system in Oświęcim to provide regulatory system services. This is a signal that the energy sector is creating space where private capital actively supports the stability and security of the power system.
The stability of the power system is one of the key challenges of modern economies. With the growing share of renewable energy sources, security of supply is no longer merely a technical issue. It is becoming a strategic matter for many sectors—from manufacturing and transport to consumers’ daily lives. This creates enormous potential for innovation, increasingly introduced by private companies. Meanwhile, the System Services Market in Poland is growing dynamically and is estimated to already reach a value of around PLN 2 billion annually, making it one of the fastest-developing segments of the energy market.
In September 2025, Synthos and Ekovoltis—companies belonging to MS Galleon, the capital group of Michał Sołowow—successfully completed the qualification process for source EC 1, equipped with a gas turbine operating in a CCGT system, to provide system services under the new Balancing Conditions.
“Cooperation between Synthos and Ekovoltis demonstrates that combining industrial experience with advanced energy trading competencies and a flexible customer approach enables fast and effective execution of innovative projects that significantly strengthen the stability and competitiveness of the national power system.” says Bogusław Brandys, Director of the Utilities Business Unit at Synthos.
Synthos, which has long-standing competencies in providing system services on the Czech market and operates a diverse portfolio of energy assets at home and abroad, contributed its knowledge and infrastructure. Ekovoltis, in turn, provided its experience in energy trading as well as organizational and technical expertise, enabling the entire process to be completed in just nine months.
A New Era in Energy
The entry of Synthos and Ekovoltis into a new segment of the Polish energy market is not only a milestone for both companies but also proof that private entities are ready to co-create the country’s energy security.
According to Bartłomiej Kalisiewicz, Management Board member of Ekovoltis, this marks the beginning of a new era in which the nation’s energy security will also be supported by private players. Until the introduction of the new Balancing Conditions in June 2024, the system services market was dominated by large, centrally dispatched generation units.
“The fact that Synthos and Ekovoltis have gone through the full qualification process and completed it successfully means real market opening for new participants. Moreover, the experience gained in the process and the partnership between Ekovoltis and enspired—the European leader in algorithmic trading—allow us to offer the most advanced large‑scale energy storage optimization service available on the market. This is also a signal to the entire industry that the future of Polish energy does not have to rely solely on centralized assets, and system stability is no longer the exclusive responsibility of large entities but becomes a shared effort of multiple market participants. This creates a modern model in which energy security is based on flexibility, technological diversity, and broad cooperation.” summarizes Bartłomiej Kalisiewicz.
