SYNTECA® LiBR – Low-cis Lithium Polybutadiene Rubber

SYNTECA® LiBR is a low-cis polybutadiene rubber (PBR) produced with a lithium catalyst.
It is mainly used for plastic modification, enhancing the impact strength and processability of High-Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) and Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS).
New lithium polybutadiene grades for tire applications are also in development, targeting improved filler interaction, low hysteresis, and balanced dynamic performance.

SYNTECA<sup>®</sup> LiBR – Low-cis Lithium Polybutadiene Rubber

Synthos produces SYNTECA® LiBR using an anionic polymerization process with a lithium catalyst. The result is a linear polymer with narrow polydispersity, high purity, and low gel content – ensuring stable performance and easy processing.

For plastic modification, SYNTECA® LiBR delivers:

  • Improved impact resistance and surface gloss in HIPS and ABS
  • Consistent quality in polymer blending and compounding
  • Light color and high transparency in end-use applications
  • Excellent solubility and compatibility with styrenic polymers

Next-generation LiBR materials in development for tire tread compounds combine the advantages of lithium-based polymers with optimized filler dispersion and reduced rolling resistance, supporting the industry’s drive toward lower-carbon mobility.
